Qualified Mathematics Teacher Years 7–9
IES Österåker opened in August 2024 and is a modern F-9 school with high ambitions. When fully established, the school will have around 600 students across two classes per year group.
We follow the Swedish national curriculum, with up to 50% of lessons taught in English. Our school is built on clear routines, high expectations, and a safe learning environment where students and staff can succeed.
The school is located in central Åkersberga, about 30 minutes from Stockholm. Our campus combines newly built and renovated facilities and is close to sports facilities, nature, and the Stockholm archipelago.
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Mathematics Teacher for Years 7-9 to join our team.
As a teacher, you will plan, teach, assess, and follow up on students' learning in mathematics. You will help students build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve strong academic results.
A key part of this role is meeting the needs of different learners. You should be able to support students who find mathematics challenging while also providing extension and enrichment for students who need greater academic challenge.
The role also includes teaching IGCSE Mathematics in Year 9.
You will be a mentor for a group of students and work closely with parents, colleagues, the student support team, and school leadership to support student success.
We are looking for:
- Holds a valid teaching qualification and teaching license in Mathematics for Years 7–9.
- Is fluent in both Swedish and English.
- Can teach mathematics confidently in both Swedish and English.
- Has several years of successful teaching experience.
- Has a proven track record of helping students who struggle in mathematics make progress.
- Has experience supporting and challenging high-achieving mathematics students.
- Has experience with, or knowledge of, IGCSE Mathematics.
- Creates a calm, structured, and positive classroom environment.
- Has high expectations for all students.
- Works well with colleagues and enjoys being part of a team.
- Gives clear feedback that helps students improve

The position is 100%. A six-month probationary period applies.
